I have thoroughly been enjoying the creativity I have been experiencing with Paper Pumpkin Alternatives. For someone who can get in the box, it has stretched me to get outside of the box and see what I can come up with and it has been so fun! The picture below is what this month’s Paper Pumpkin are designed to be – Crackers! They are so fun! My son and daughter-in-law, who is British, had these for us the last Christmas we spent in England with them. They contain all sorts of fun things in them and you “crack” them open to see the surprise!

The first project I did on the live is a 3D project. I made a chapstick holder which are perfect to give as gifts! To make this chapstick holder, I cut the “cracker” form in half at 3 1/2″ then cut it at the fourth score line (see the video). I scored it using my Simply Scoring tool halfway between the scalloped edge and the first score line. I then placed the last score line from the scalloped edge at the 1″ mark on my trimmer then cut off the rest (approximately 1/4″?). I folded and burnished the score lines then placed Tear and tape under the scalloped edge. I then folded it and placed the straight edge into the score line/fold nearest to the scalloped edge and this created my form for the chapstick. I decorated it using the die cut pieces in the kit and I couldn’t be happier with the way it turned out!

For this alternative, I created a fun fold card by cutting one of the “cracker” forms in half the long way which happens to be 3 1/2″ and punched the diamond pieces out to be used later. I glued it onto a piece of Gray Granite Cardstock then glued that onto a piece of Cajun Craze. I stamped the pumpkin on die cut stitched circle and colored it with blends then added it to the card front using dimensionals. I stamped “Hello Pumpkin” in Cajun Craze on one of the banner tags provided in the kit and placed it on the circle as well as a die cut flower also provided on the card using dimensionals. I tied a bow with two strands of Baker’s Twine (also included) and attached onto the card. 

Off camera, I stamped the pumpkin and colored it onto a piece of Whisper White Cardstock for the inside. It turned out to be an adorable fun fold card!

These adorable cards are 3″ x 3″. I made the first card before the Live and just showed as an example of what could be done. I used the diamond pop outs and created bunting. The confetti pieces came in the kit along with the banner. I used Cajun Craze as the card front. On the top one it is 2 3/4″ x 2 3/4″ and for the one I made on the live it is 2 5/8 x 2 5/8. You can see how I created the bunting on the live. I used the Baker’s Twine that was provided as well as the banners, lattice, and flower cut outs. I will use the 3″ x 3″ envelopes Stampin’ Up has in the catalog to mail these. They’re just adorable!

For the card pictured below, I simply cut off the ends of each side on the long side then glued it onto a piece of Pumpkin Pie Cardstock. I used Stitched Triangle pieces I had already die cut from Whisper White, Daffodil Delight and Pumpkin Pie Cardstock. I used the confetti supplied in the kit and placed them under the “Candy Corn” before placing them on the card front using dimensionals. I stamped using Pumpkin Pie ink on one of the labels provided in the kit and finished it off with Playing With Patterns Resin Dots. I think it turned out soooo cute!!!

These l last two cards I had already made using the Paper Pumpkin Kit. 

To make this card, I used Thick Whisper White as my card base and Pumpkin Pie Cardstock as my card front which I dry embossed using the Parisian Flourish 3D Embossing folder. I took the diamond pieces that popped out and created a pinwheel type kite. I started by placing a mini dimensionals behind each diamond then forming a flower form. I then took diamond pieces and glued between each of the diamonds I had originally paced with dimensionals. I stamped my sentiment on a label from the kit using Pumpkin Pie Ink from the Many Mates Stamp Set. I cut pieces of the Baker’s Twine provided and tucked them up under my pinwheel using glue dots. I finished the card with flowers and leaves from the kit and Gilded Gem Embellishments.  Adorable!!! It’s such a fun birthday card!

For the last card, I used the alternative design Stampin’ Up provided on the back of the design sheet and just took it up a notch. I used the cut out flowers, leaves and confetti to create a wreath on Very Vanilla Cardstock. The card front is layered onto Cajun Craze then a Cinnamon Cider Cardstock card base. I stamped the sentiment with Cajun Craze on a banner provided then layered it on a piece of Cajun Craze lattice provided in the kit. I added a double bow tied from Linen Thread and topped it off with an Acorn Trinket. Such a pretty pretty card!
